AMPANG JAYA, Aug. 15, 2026 — The Raja-Raja Gold Cup (PERR) entered another significant chapter in its long history as the Persatuan Bolasepak Melayu Malaysia (PBMM) officially launched the 104th Edition of the Raja-Raja Gold Cup 2026 at a ceremony held at the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) Hall today.

The launch was officiated by TYT Tun Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam, Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka and Patron of PBMM, who also delivered an address highlighting the importance of preserving the continuity and heritage of Malay football in Malaysia.

The launch of the 104th edition was more than a celebration of the tournament’s remarkable longevity. It also marked PBMM’s efforts to take the Raja-Raja Gold Cup into a new phase while preserving its rich traditions.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the unveiling of the official logo and identity of the 104th Edition of the Raja-Raja Gold Cup, alongside a presentation on the history of PBMM, the history of PERR, as well as the tournament’s achievements and development over the years.

Also in attendance were YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Haji Hamidin bin Haji Mohd Amin, Honorary President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and AFC & FIFA Council Member; YBrs. Tuan Haji Hasnolnizam bin Shaari, Deputy President of MPAJ; and PBMM President YBrs. Mohd Firdaus bin Mohamed, together with PBMM leadership, affiliated associations and the PERR Organising Committee.

PBMM and MySports Forge Strategic Partnership

Another key highlight of the ceremony was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between PBMM and MySports Media Group Sdn. Bhd. (MySports) to strengthen the media, publicity and commercial development of the Raja-Raja Gold Cup.

Under the strategic partnership, MySports will serve as PBMM’s strategic media partner, with a focus on strengthening the PERR brand, enhancing the tournament’s commercial value and expanding the reach and visibility of the Raja-Raja Gold Cup to a wider audience.

The collaboration will also create opportunities for new approaches in content development, broadcasting, digital promotion and the development of media assets for PERR and PBMM’s activities as a whole.

For PBMM, the partnership forms part of its broader efforts to ensure that a tradition spanning 104 years is not merely preserved, but given a new lease of life that remains relevant to today’s generation.

For MySports, the collaboration reflects its commitment to playing a greater role in the development of Malaysia’s local sporting ecosystem, particularly in highlighting the history, identity and talent of Malay football in the country.

Where Tradition Meets the Future

The Raja-Raja Gold Cup holds a special place in the history of Malay football in Malaysia.

Now, after 104 years, the challenge is not simply to ensure that the tournament continues, but to transform its rich heritage into a stronger, more professional sporting brand capable of engaging a new generation.

The launch of the 104th Edition of the Raja-Raja Gold Cup, together with the signing of the MOU between PBMM and MySports, represents an important first step towards that vision.

104 years is history. But history only lives on when there is a commitment to carry it into the future.

For the Raja-Raja Gold Cup, that journey has now entered a new chapter.
